Abstract

Abstract:

Knowing about Almighty Allah and monotheism is a basic need of human race. It is to this reason that the Imams from the Ahl al-Bayt did their best to defend and safeguard the tradition of monotheism. If the Imams had not cleared the doubts, ambiguities, and objections regarding the monotheism, the spirit of monotheism might have left the body of the ummah. On the other hand, the theologian usually divides monotheism into four kinds, namely Tawheed-e zati (monotheism vis-à-vis the essence of God), Tawheed-e sifati (monotheism vis-à-vis the attributes of God), Tawheed-e afa’li (monotheism vis-à-vis the actions of God), and tawheed-e ibadi (monotheism vis-à-vis the worship of God). Drawing on the aforementioned types of monotheism, an attempt has been made in this article to highlight the Islamic teachings of monotheism in the light of the sayings of Imam Reza (A.S).
