Abstract

Materialism is a school of thought which has its own philosophy regarding ontology, anthropology, epistemology and axiology. Materialism is the base of science and it provides a base for atheist schools of thoughts such as communism, socialism, capitalism, feudalism and secularism. According to materialism all things, even thoughts, God and soul are material and there is no creator of the matter. Materialists therefore attribute all the qualities of God to matter. From the perspective of Islamic teachings, this article examines the objections and questions raised by materialists with respect to faith in God and religiosity.
