Comparative study of the standard of Sunnah
Abstract
The opinions of the Imams have been examined in the light of Quran and Hadith so that the standard of Sunnah is clear. The Quran describes the Sunnah in the sense of a rule which is prevalent in all nations and the Sunnah is used in both literal and figurative meanings in the hadiths. According to the scholars of jurisprudence, the standard of Sunnah is based on evidence and since the standard of value differs in determining the evidence, there is disagreement in Sunnah but it has to do with the degree of deeds. The practice is as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had issued it in his Sunnah.
